A good posture greatly contributes to the wellbeing of individuals, but it is common to find many problems in the posture of people around the world. When a person’s posture is faulty it can give discomfort, pain and disability. The range of effects from discomfort to incapacitating disability is usually related to the severity and persistence of the faults.
When the human body’s posture is right, it provides muscular and skeletal balance and protects the supporting structure against injury and progressive deformity. Under such condition, our muscles work and function most effectively and efficiently.
I do a postural assessment first, before a massage, to discover which area of The Clients body is weaker and less functional.
The Body always tries to find other muscles to take over the work of the weaker ones, and make itself work. Even in an extreme situation, our body will be able to maintain posture, but we will get a lot of pain, stiffness, discomfort, tightness etc. This means that some muscles work much harder to achieve the ability to walk or run.
When the body has not been fixed for a long time, the problem creates overstretch, overtiredness, chronic pain and much more.A good postural assessment can help individuals to find the weakness in the body and treat that muscle, ligament or joint according to the need. Every massage treatment is extremely good, when relying on postural assessment.
When you have pain, there is always something creating it. Without an assessment and a postural check, massage is not very effective and the relief doesn’t last long.
When the pain is coming back quickly after sessions it means that the main weakness was not discovered or the exercises given by the professional massage therapist were not chosen carefully enough.
