Orthobionomy The history of Orthobionomy dates backs to 1955 when a young man, suffering from chronic back pain, visited an experienced osteopath: Dr. Lawrence H. Jones. His diagnosis revealed a rather common cause - the patient lifted a heavy load, went to bed and the next day and woke up in great pain. Although Dr Jones' methods were usually effective, because the muscles were in such a tense condition, this time it didn't work. He needed to find a method to give the young man immediate relief and also to enable him to have some good sleep. He made the young man lie in a position where he felt no pain telling him to "remember this position and try to rest and have some deep sleep". On awakening, he helped the patient up and to his great surprise, the pain had considerably lessened due to his relaxing in this particular position. Dr Jones continued to develop this technique which is now known as 'Orthobionomy'. This method is now used world-wide to relax the muscles, remove pain and aches, correct bad posture and help with mobility. |
